Recruitment
In
recruiting staff, the Bank adopts a competence-based recruitment
approach to ensure that the entire process is based on identifying
which applicants are more qualified than others in relation to
the work experience, qualifications, skills and abilities as advertised
in the vacancy announcement.
Priority
is given to applicants with relevant professional experience in
the region; work experience in international organizations; and
with experience working in multi-national teams.
Applicants
for Professional Positions must:
Possess
very good academic background (those with post-graduate degrees
such as MBA, MS, or Ph. D. are given preference)
Have considerable expertise and years of experience in their
profession
Have experience in an international environment with involvement
in transition economies
Have proficiency in both spoken and written English
Have the flexibility to work with other nationalities and with
different cultural backgrounds
Be willing to travel on mission to member countries, if required
The
Selection Process
Vacancies
are advertised in the media and on BSTDB’s website. The
Bank only accepts applications for advertised vacancies, sent
by the interested applicants within the published deadline. The
Bank does not accept unsolicited applications for upcoming vacancies.
BSTDB’s
Human Resources Department initially evaluates the applications
and refers the best qualified applicants to hiring departments/offices
for further review before taking the decision to invite some applicants
for interview.
Initial
Appointment/Career
Staff
appointments to the Bank are for an indefinite duration or a fixed
term. All appointments are subject to a probationary period of
up to one year.
An
appointment with the Bank involves residence in Thessaloniki,
Greece and, in some instances, frequent travel to member countries.
To
provide for career growth and advancement, the Bank conducts an
annual review of performance. Promotions and salary advancement
are determined by merit and the capacity to assume increased responsibilities.
Advancement to higher level positions is based on a competitive
selection process.
