BSTDB HOLDS ITS SECOND ANNUAL MEETING

On April 17, 2000 in Athens BSTDB held its Second Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors. The Meeting was attended by Ms. A. Berberi, Vice Minister of Finance and BSTDB Governor for the Republic of Albania, Mr. L. Barkhudaryan, Minister of Finance and BSTDB Governor for the Republic of Armenia, Mr. I. Fati-Zade, First Deputy Minister of Finance and BSTDB Temporary Alternate Governor for the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. S. Gavriiski, Governor of the National Bank and BSTDB Governor for Bulgaria, Mr. S. Avgouleas, Secretary General for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of National Economy and BSTDB Governor for the Hellenic Republic, Mr. V. Chiriak, First Deputy Minister of Finance and BSTDB Governor for the Republic of Moldova, Ms. V. Siclovan, Secretary of State Office of the Ministry of Finance and BSTDB Temporary Alternate Governor for Romania, Mr. A. Shapovaliants, Minister of Economy and BSTDB Governor for the Russian Federation, Mr. A. Karaoz, Director General for Foreign Economic Relations of the Undersecretariat of Treasury and BSTDB Temporary Alternate Governor for the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. V. Stelmakh, Governor of the National Bank and BSTDB Temporary Alternate Governor for Ukraine.


Mr. M. Kakulia, Vice President of the National Bank and BSTDB Governor for Georgia, chaired the Meeting.


Ambassadors of the BSTDB Member States in Athens were invited to attend the first stage of the Meeting of the Board as guests of honour. Mr. O. Skoropad, Deputy Secretary General of the Business Council of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation was present at the Meeting as a guest.


The Board of Governors approved the audited Financial Statements contained in the Annual Report of BSTDB and the allocation of net income of the Bank for 1999.


It has also adopted the Bank's Code of Conduct concerning inter alia personal investment holdings and transactions which shall be binding on all Directors, their Alternates and Temporary Alternates, the President, Vice Presidents and Secretary General, and officers and staff of the Bank.


The Board of Governors elected the Governor for Georgia as Chairman of the Board and the Governors for Romania and Ukraine as Vice Chairmen of the Board of Governors of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank until the election of officers at the end of the next Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia on 21 May, 2001.
