PRESIDENT of BSTDB MEETS ALBANIAN LEADERS AND SPEAKS IN THE PABSEC PLENARY SESSION

On June 6-9, 2000 Mr. Ersoy Volkan, President of BSTDB paid a working visit to the Republic of Albania. He had meetings with Mr.Rexhep Meidani, President of the Republic of Albania, Mr.Ilir Meta, Prime Minister, Mr. Skender Gjinushi, Speaker of the Parliament, Mr.Shkelqim Cani, Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr.Sokol Nako, Minister of Transport, Ms. Adriana Berberi, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Engjeli Skreli, Deputy Minister of Economic Cooperation and Trade. The parties discussed economic situation in Albania and cooperation with BSTDB to support priority projects in energy and transport infrastructure development, privatization, small and medium size enterprises (SME), tourism, and other strategic areas. Particular attention was given to BSTDB's involvement in projects to be implemented in Albania in the framework of Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.

During his visit to Albania, the President of BSTDB addressed the 15th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), which recognized the increasing importance of BSTDB as a facilitator of regional trade and finance projects and acknowledged the Bank's role in SME development in the Black Sea region.
