BSTDB Participates in the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group

Meetings with partners focused on opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development

A delegation of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), led by President Dr. Serhat Köksal and comprising Vice President Banking Ziya Aliyev and Special Advisor to the President Mehmet Taş, participated in the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group, held in Baku under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity”.

On the margins of the Annual Meetings, the BSTDB delegation held a series of meetings with government officials and development partners to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation and enhancing development impact across common member countries.

Among the engagements, the delegation met with H.E. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Anar Kerimov, First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Babayev, Executive Director of AZCON Holding and Dr. Khalid Khalafalla, Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC).

Discussions with H.E. Mikayil Jabbarov focused on prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and BSTDB, including the Bank’s participation in projects planned in the country, public-private partnership initiatives and opportunities to make use of relevant financial instruments. Meetings with other counterparts provided an opportunity to exchange views on areas of common interest aimed at supporting sustainable development, investment and regional connectivity.

BSTDB continues to work closely with governments, international financial institutions and private sector partners to promote economic development, regional cooperation and resilience throughout the Black Sea region.
