BSTDB President Highlights Climate Resilience and Food Security at the Zero Waste Forum

Sustainable investment, climate-smart agriculture, and stronger partnerships critical to address food loss and climate challenges across the Black Sea region.

The President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), Dr. Serhat Köksal, participated in the Zero Waste Forum, held in Istanbul from 5 to 7 June, which brought together policymakers, international organizations, investors and experts to discuss sustainable solutions to climate and resource challenges.

Speaking at the High-Level Ministerial Panel on Agriculture during the session, “Reducing Post-Harvest Losses – Enhancing Efficiency in the Food Supply Chain,” Dr. Köksal emphasized the vital role of sustainable investments in enhancing agricultural productivity, reducing food losses and strengthening food security.

Dr. Köksal also took part in the panel on climate finance, where he presented BSTDB’s priorities in the agricultural sectors and shared perspectives on mobilising finance to support climate resilience investments throughout the Black Sea region.

He stressed that building resilient food systems and sustainable economies will require stronger regional partnerships, increased investment and innovative financing mechanisms.

Held under the theme “Road to Antalya: Zero Waste as Climate Action”, the Forum contributed to global discussions ahead of COP31, which Türkiye will host in Antalya in November 2026.

BSTDB remains committed to supporting sustainable agricultural development and climate resilience initiatives that contribute to long-term economic growth and food security across its member countries.
