BSTDB Brings Together Public and Private Sector Leaders to Discuss Investment and Growth in Georgia
Georgia edition of BSTDB Business Dialogues focuses on financing, connectivity and private-sector development, with EUR 37 million in new financing agreements signed
The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) brought together more than 100 representatives of Georgia’s business, financial and public sectors in Tbilisi for BSTDB Business Dialogues: Georgia, a one-day event focused on investment opportunities, financing needs and private-sector growth.
Held on 6 October under the theme “Investing in Georgia’s Next Phase of Growth,” the event combined strategic discussion with a dedicated business-to-business component, giving Georgian companies the opportunity to meet directly with BSTDB banking teams to discuss investment plans, financing needs and potential areas of cooperation. The event also marked the signing of three financing agreements with Georgian banks totalling EUR 37 million.
The event was opened by Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia and Ziya Aliyev, Vice President Banking at BSTDB. BSTDB also presented its activities in Georgia, available financing instruments and opportunities for cooperation with Georgian companies and financial institutions.
A panel discussion on “Connectivity, Energy and Industrial Competitiveness: Unlocking Georgia’s Investment Potential” brought together representatives of government, banking, energy and business to discuss investment opportunities and financing needs across key sectors. The discussion focused on connectivity, energy infrastructure, industrial competitiveness and access to long-term finance.
During the event, BSTDB signed three financing agreements with Georgian banks totalling EUR 37 million: a EUR 25 million SME facility with Basisbank, a EUR 7 million SME facility with Isbank Georgia and a EUR 5 million financing facility with Terabank.
Ziya Aliyev, Vice President Banking at BSTDB, said: “Georgia has a dynamic private sector and significant potential for further investment. Through BSTDB Business Dialogues, we wanted to combine strategic discussion with direct engagement with businesses and financial institutions. Understanding where companies see opportunities — and what financing they need to pursue them — is essential to developing strong projects and expanding BSTDB’s support for Georgia’s private sector.”
Following the plenary programme and signing ceremonies, a series of bilateral meetings brought Georgian companies together with BSTDB banking teams for more detailed discussions on specific projects, investment plans and financing requirements.
BSTDB Business Dialogues: Georgia forms part of the Bank’s broader engagement with its member countries and its efforts to strengthen direct dialogue with businesses, financial institutions and public-sector partners on investment priorities and financing opportunities.
