BSTDB country mission to Georgia

A Black Sea Trade and Development Bank delegation paid a two-day working visit to Georgia to discuss key economic developments in the country and national economic policy priorities in the framework of the elaboration of a Bank’s new country strategy. The new country strategy will follow general objectives set forth in the recently approved Medium-Term Strategy and Business Plan of the Bank for the period 2011-2014, which inter alia provides for a two-fold increase in the Bank’s portfolio, while maintaining a high 20% share of smaller shareholding countries in the Bank’s operations.

 

The BSTDB delegation headed by Mr. Andrey Kondakov, President and including Mr. Mustafa Boran, Vice President Banking, Mrs. Orsalia Kalantzopoulos, Secretary General and heads of relevant Bank's departments met Mr. Kakha Baindurashvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia and Mr. Archil Mestvirishvili, Vice President of the National Bank of Georgia to discuss the Bank's strategy and business targets in the country, as well as the national economic policy priorities.

 

Mr. Kondakov and Mr. Archil Mestvirishvili, Vice President of the National Bank of Georgia gave a press conference for Georgian media.

 

Mr. Dimitri Gvindadze, Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, BSTDB Director for Georgia and Mr. Giorgi Chirakadze, President, Business Association of Georgia participated in the Bank's presentation to the Georgian business and banking community organized in cooperation with the Business Association and the Banks' Association of Georgia. The presentation was followed by a signing ceremony of a loan agreement between the BSTDB and Cartu Bank, which further advanced the BSTDB trade finance program in Georgia.

 

After the BSTDB presentation, the Bank's banking team had an extensive program of bilateral meetings with interested Georgian banks and companies to discuss cooperation opportunities.
