BSTDB country mission to Azerbaijan

A Black Sea Trade and Development Bank delegation concluded a working visit to Azerbaijan to discuss key economic developments in the country and national economic policy priorities in the context of the Bank’s new strategy for Azerbaijan. The country strategy follows general objectives set forth in the recently approved Medium-Term Strategy and Business Plan of the Bank for the period 2011-2014, which inter alia provides for a two-fold increase in the Bank’s overall portfolio while maintaining a 20% share of smaller shareholding countries in the Bank’s operations.  Therefore,  the Bank will aim at doubling its portfolio in Azerbaijan over the period, while diversifying sectors of operations and increasing support for projects in manufacturing, infrastructure, agribusiness, energy and services.

 

The BSTDB delegation headed by Mr. Andrey Kondakov, President and including Mr. Mustafa Boran, Vice President Banking and heads of Bank's departments met Mr. Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance and BSTDB Governor for Azerbaijan, Mr. Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Elmar Rustamov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mammad-Kuliyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials.

 

Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov, BSTDB Director for Azerbaijan opened the Bank's presentation to the Azerbaijani business and banking community organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Foundation of Azerbaijan, which gathered about 100 business participants. The BSTDB bankers had an extensive program of bilateral meetings with interested companies and banks and discussed cooperation opportunities. 

 

The BSTDB President offered interviews to TV channels and the business press of Azerbaijan, which provided extensive coverage of the Bank’s country mission.
