BSTDB supports the Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean PPP Forum in Thessaloniki

On May 16th the Bank sponsored the Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean PPP Forum organized jointly by the Greek Ministry of Regional Development and Competitiveness and the World Bank Institute. The PPP Forum took place in the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ms. Orsalia Kalantzopoulos, BSTDB Secretary General addressed the opening session of the Forum and welcomed the participants. She highlighted the opportunities for development and growth presented by well designed PPP programs and the importance of a sound legal and regulatory environment as a pre-condition for transparency and competition. She also emphasized the possible fiscal risks the implementation of PPPs may present.
The PPP agenda is important for the Bank as the institution plans to substantially increase its involvement in PPP projects across the region over the medium term. During this learning event, the organizers, representatives from countries in the region, the EIB, EC and BSTDB representatives shared experiences in financing PPP projects.
