On February 6th and 7th 2013, the 7th Meeting of Development Financial Institutions on Corporate Governance took place in Manila, hosted by the Asian Development Bank. Participating institutions reviewed implementation progress of “The Corporate Governance Development Framework”, now signed by 31 Development Finance Institutions.
Participating institutions committed themselves to work together to advance the cause of good Corporate Governance and to help improve the governance of the companies they work with. The Corporate Governance Development Framework is a robust guideline to integrate good corporate governance into investment operations. The following steps were agreed to further drive the implementation of the Corporate Governance Framework:
- The Annual Meeting of Development Financial Institutions on Corporate Governance will remain the key learning platform and network event to review progress on the implementation of the Framework and agree on future actions;
- Develop a governance charter of the current working group to coordinate and drive the implementation of the Framework;
- Enhance the Website of the Framework to improve knowledge sharing and networking;
- Enhance the cooperation among Development Institutions in the area of training and continue the work on a business case which examines the possible linkages between corporate governance practices and the financial performance of banks and financial institutions.
