Mr. Ch. TSAROUCHAS, new BSTDB Secretary General

Following the proposal of the Government of the Hellenic Republic, the BSTDB Board of Directors appointed Mr. Charalampos E. Tsarouchas the BSTDB Secretary General as of January 15, 2001.

 

Born in Alexandroupoli (Greece) in 1959, Mr. Ch. Tsarouchas graduated from the Economic School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and has an MBA degree from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside (London, UK).

In 1985-1998 he worked for Ionian Bank in Greece and Bulgaria, being successively promoted to Manager of the Sofia Branch, then Egnatia Branch of the Bank in Thessaloniki.
He headed the Interbalkan and Black Sea Business Center (DIPEK) in 1998 - 1999.

For the last 20 months he was Managing Director of Thessaloniki International Fair S.A.

Mr. Ch. Tsarouchas is a member of the Boards of Directors of a number of important bodies and institutions, including the Exporters' Association of Northern Greece, the Arab-Hellenic and the Greek-Turkish Chambers of Commerce, the Institute for Mediterranean Cooperation, the New Millennium Portfolio Investments S.A., etc.

He speaks Greek, English, and Bulgarian.

As BSTDB Secretary General, Mr. Ch. Tsarouchas is in charge of the Bank's administrative matters, external relations and communications with its Board of Governors and Board of Directors and with the Government and authorities of the host country, as well as human resources, information technologies, and publications.

The new BSTDB Secretary General replaced Mr. Nicolas Zachariadis who has been nominated Deputy Governor of a leading Greek bank.
