BSTDB to Host a Black Sea – EU Conference in Thessaloniki

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank will host a one day dedicated international Black Sea-EU Conference at the Makedonia Palace hotel in Thessaloniki on Monday, 10th of September 2001. The event will be held parallel to the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, which annually attracts around 1200 businesses from the region.
The Conference that will gather top international officials and business leaders of the region, aims at promoting closer economic cooperation between the Black Sea economic and business community and the European Union. The European Commission will present its latest special study on the economic prospects of the Black Sea region. Among the key speakers at the Conference are Ms. Anna Diamantopoulou, European Commissioner, H.E. Valeri Chechelashvili, Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Mr. Ersoy Volkan, President of the BSTDB, Mr. Jean Francois Drevet, DG REGIO of the European Commission, Mr. Costas Masmanidis, Secretary General of the BSEC Business Council, Mr. Dimitrios Bakatselos, President of the Inter-Balkan and Black Sea Business Center, and others.
The Conference will be the first major forum to discuss prospects of economic relations between the dynamic Black Sea region and the European Union. The event will offer a first hand information to investors, businessmen, traders active in the region about the business and financing development opportunities and programmes, and prospects for cooperation in the greater Black Sea region. The business representatives may meet high officials from BSTDB, BSEC and the European Commission, as well as Greek authorities and business counterparts informally during the course of the day, and at a reception in order to exchange views on matters of mutual interest, focus on networking and explore business prospects.
