BSTDB Board of Governors Elects New President of the Bank

The Board of Governors of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank has elected Mr. Mustafa H. Gurtin President of the Bank from February 16, 2002 for a period of 4 years.

Mr. Mustafa Gurtin, 49, was born in Ankara (Türkiye). He graduated for Middle East Technical University (Ankara) and made his Masters Degree in Economics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, USA. During his professional career Mr. Gurtin completed international training in treasury and portfolio management at Citibank and J.P. Morgan (USA).

In 1975 – 1994 Mr. Gurtin occupied progressively responsible positions at the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye and then moved to Garanti Trade and Investment Bank (Garanti Yatirim ve Ticaret Bankasi) and became its General Manager in 1995.

In 1997 he was General Manager and Member of the Board of the Turkish Commerce Bank (Turk Ticaret Bankasi).

In 1997-1999 Mr. Gurtin was Member of the Board and Member of the Executive Committee of Suzer Holding (Türkiye) in charge of the Group’s investments and cooperation with international financial institutions.

In 2001 he became Executive Member of the Board of the Turkish Bank for Foreign Trade (Turk Dis Ticaret Bankasi).

During his career Mr. Gurtin has acquired extensive international financial and banking experience in management positions in London and as a consultant of the International Monetary Fund.

Mr. Gurtin replaces Mr. Ersoy Volkan, the first President of BSTDB who completed his term in office.
