New BSTDB Vice President Assumed Duties

Following the proposal of the Government of the Russian Federation, the BSTDB Board of Directors appointed Mr. Mikhail I. JERNOV Vice President-Banking of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank for the term of 3 years. Mr. JERNOV took up his duties from October 18, 2004.
Born on May 8, 1951 in Moscow (Russia) Mr. Jernov studied economics at the Moscow State University and made his PhD in economics, international trade and cooperation in 1981. Having started as a scholar in international economic cooperation and trade, he made a career from a researcher to a chief of department and an acting deputy director at the Market Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR in Moscow. In 1992-1996 he served the Government Administration of the Russian Federation as a First Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations Division and a Chief of Foreign Affairs Division in charge of foreign trade and investments. He also coordinated activities of Russian inter-governmental commissions with UK and US. In 1996 - 1999 Mr. Jernov was a Director for the Russian Federation, Belarus and Tajikistan at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In 1999-2002 Mr. Jernov headed "Gazprom (UK) Limited" in London, United Kingdom. In 2002 he rejoined EBRD as an Alternate Director for the Russian Federation, Belarus and Tajikistan and worked there till September 2004.
At BSTDB Mr. JERNOV supervises project financing and trade finance operations. He replaced Mrs. Valentina Siclovan who took up her duties as BSTDB Vice President - Operations.
