Developmental and Regional Cooperation Impact:
By providing financial support to GC Prim, BSTDB will directly support: - the retention of jobs for local staff in a BSTDB member state; - the most sustainable local glass packaging industry player to continue its operations in a financially sustainable manner, resulting also to positive effect on the agribusiness sector in Moldova; and - the competitiveness of a successful exporter.
Environmental Classification and Impact (summary):
According to the Bank's environmental screening the Operations has been assigned category B. The environmental appraisal has been carried out by IFC and shared with BSTDB under IFC-BSTDB Cooperation Master Agreement. Environmental assessment considered the following key environmental, health and safety (EHS): the company's capacity to manage EHS performance in its operations, compliance with national permitting requirements, occupational health and safety (OHS), emissions to environment (especially to air), consumption of energy and control of greenhouse gas emissions. The outcome shows that that the project has limited potential adverse environmental and social impacts, and those that exist are site-specific and can be resolved through the effective implementation of good international industry practices and the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) which was agreed upon with the Borrower.
