A second long-term loan to Epicentr Group, Ukraine to partially finance the Group’s corporate development program for 2019-2021. The BSTDB funds will support the development of the agriculture business of the Group.

Developmental and Regional Cooperation Impact:
The operation involves a long-term loan to a private company that is expected to have favorable economic benefits for the Ukrainian economy. The financing will help to increase tax revenues and enhance benefits such as increases in employment, increase in export capacity and competitiveness, and multiplier effects for other parts of the economy. The project will contribute positively to agriculture, which has recently been bright spot of the Ukrainian economy. The regional cooperation element is likely to be relatively significant and positive.
Environmental Classification and Impact (summary):
The Operation has been assigned the environmental and social (E&S) Category B. Providing support for the Borrower’s corporate development program that consists of acquisition of agricultural land, construction of new and modernization of existing elevators, and purchasing of agricultural equipment has the potential to generate a number of E&S risks and impacts. These risks and impacts however are limited, site- specific, and can be efficiently prevented and mitigated by adhering to recognized guidelines, design criteria, and performance standards employed in the agribusiness sector.
