Trans-Oil Group is an agro-industrial conglomerate with a wide range of activities, including oilseed crushing, grain handling and storage, international commodities trading, vegetable oil in bulk, bottled oil, and flour production. Trans-Oil Group employs 2,800 people, primarily in sunflower oil production, as well as in origination and logistics, all of which are entirely owned and operated by the group.

Developmental and Regional Cooperation Impact:
The end recipient of the Bank’s financing is a dominant Moldovan entity involved also in sourcing, processing, storing, and transportation of commodities from other BSTDB’s Member States (Ukraine, Romania). The recipient is already exporting extensively to BSTDB members (such as Turkiye) and beyond, has a presence in other BSTDB member countries (Ukraine/Reni and Romania/Tandarei). Therefore, there is a strong regional cooperation element in the operation which will be further supported by the exports financed by BSTDB from the trade facility.
Environmental Classification and Impact (summary):
The Operation involves financing export shipments of approved commodities of TransOil Group namely, sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, sunflower meal and/ or any other agricultural commodities. For the purpose of environmental and social (E&S) risk and impact the operation is screened category B with medium significance issues, which are mostly site specific, and can be readily addressed through prevention and mitigation measures widely applied in the agribusiness sector.
